Review: Rodillas Yema Cake
April 25, 2015
I'm craving for Rodillas Yema cake tonight and I remember blogging about it.
Last year I became very curious about Rodillas Yema Cake because I saw so many photos of my friends raving about it. I had a chance to purchase one while doing errands for my Mom at SM during the holidays. It costed Php260. At first, I found it a little expensive for a small size until I tasted it.
I wasn't impressed the first time I tried its frosting. It was just ordinary for me. But when I had a bite of the chiffon cake, its flavors started to burst inside my mouth. The chiffon cake was so soft, fine, buttery, and tasted really, really good! I enjoyed eating it!
The generous amount of custard and cheddar cheese blended well with the chiffon cake. I almost ate half of the cake in just one sitting. I didn't eat dinner yet that time. Do I sound defensive? LOL!
Monica and Jett Bakeshop, the maker of the original Rodillas Yema Cake, is from Tayabas, Quezon. I'm not sure of its official Facebook page since it has so many resellers all over Philippines who maintain their own Facebook pages. To be sure, you may contact the proprietor on the numbers seen on the photo below if you want to ask more information.
Php260 a box was worth it and became more worth it when Kuya said that he loved it too!
Everything was perfect except for the packaging. I was disappointed when I saw the portion of the cake stuck on the box despite handling it carefully. I hope that the owner would make provisions on that.
I'm so excited to try Rodillas Puto de Leche and buy another box of this super yummy Yema Cake next time.
