When a week before the community quarantine in Metro Manila due to Covid-19 started, I was feeling under the weather already. All I did was to sleep, drink plenty of water, and eat healthily as encouraged. Unfortunately, despite keeping myself healthy, I didn't feel better for two consecutive weeks. I was experiencing signs and symptoms of the virus that caused too much anxiety on my part. I worried too much that led to extreme unproductivity and sadness. Pessimism clouded my judgments. It was so challenging for me to finish my further study requirements and to homeschool Bunso. When I was about to surrender and accept that I might be infected, there was a voice playing in my head saying that I should never give up and entertain negativity. I had to stay healthy and live longer for my family. Keeping my sanity intact was so difficult but my family was my driving force to fight the negative feeling. Hearing the news and seeing too much negativity and cynicism on media amplified my sorrow. With all honesty, I forgot to stay optimistic like I used to in a time like this. Maybe I neglected it a long time ago without knowing it. Subconsciously, maybe my recent personal issues, experiences, and stressors somehow influenced how I think in the present. On the night that I felt that it was difficult for me to breathe, I remembered the book entitled "The Secret" that my father-in-law lent us. It was the book that saved me during those dark moments when I was battling postpartum depression. Right there and then, I read it from cover to cover while weeping due to fear. Like how it hit me in a brink of depression, I instantly pulled myself together after finishing the book that prompted me to compose a post on my Facebook Page. Here it went.

Stress consumes us for months due to the unfortunate events like natural disasters and diseases that are happening. Why do they keep coming? Because we keep on attracting them by talking about them every single day.
Starting tonight, let us refrain from thinking negatively or immersing ourselves with bad news. Let us focus on being grateful by saying, "Thank you for the healing. Thank you for the beautiful day. Thank you for the abundance. Thank you for the happy, prosperous, and healthy life." We'll see, we will attract more good things in our lives.
👉 "Remove physiological stress from the body, and the body does what it was designed to do. It heals itself." - Dr. Ben Johnson
👉 "When people are completely focused on what's wrong and their symptoms, they will perpetuate it. The healing will not occur until they shift their attention from being sick to being well because that's the law of attraction." - Bob Doyle
👉 "Happier thoughts lead to essentially happier biochemistry. A happier, healthier body. Negative thoughts and stress have been shown to seriously degrade the body and the functioning of the brain, because it's our thoughts and emotions that are continuously reassembling, reorganizing, re-creating our body." - Dr. John Hagelin
👉 "Disease cannot live in a body that's in a healthy emotional state. Your body is casting off millions of cells every second, and it's also creating millions of new cells at the same time." - Bob Proctor
👉 "If you have a disease, and you're focusing on it, and you're talking to people about it, you're going to create more diseased cells. See yourself living in a perfectly healthy body. Let the doctor look after the disease." - Bob Proctor
👉 "Anything we focus on we do create. So if we're really angry, for instance, at a war that's going on, or strife, or suffering, we're adding our energy to it. We're pushing ourselves, and that only creates resistance." - Hale Dwoskin
👉 "Every thought of yours is a real thing--- a force." - Prentice Mulford
In our current crisis, we've already heard the mandate of our president. We know what to do. We know what not to do. In line with this, I encourage everyone to unplug and focus on your family and health.
My family and I have decided not the watch the news and only focus on what is essential at the moment. I will also be in social media hiatus for a while. May God bless us. Let us believe that God will provide.
Guess what? When I woke up the following day, I was feeling a lot better. There were no body malaise, low-grade fever, dry cough, headache, and difficulty of breathing. Yes, indeed! Our thoughts could make or break us so we should choose wisely what we feed our minds. This inspired me again to compose a Facebook post to further ease my worries and to inspire others to do the same.
"Here's the problem. Most people are thinking about what they don't want, and they are wondering why it shows up over and over again." - John Assaraf
So, let's attract the good instead of the bad.
"The only reason why people do not have what they want is because they are thinking more about what they DON'T want than what they DO WANT. Listen to your thoughts, and listen to the words you are saying. The law is absolute and there are no mistakes. An epidemic worse than any plague that humankind has ever seen has been raging for centuries. It is the "don't want" epidemic. People keep this epidemic alive when they predominantly think, speak, act, and focus on what they "don't want". But this is the generation that will change history, because we are receiving the knowledge that can free us of this epidemic! It begins with you, and you can become the pioneer of this new thought movement by SIMPLY THINKING AND SPEAKING ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT. " - Rhonda Byrne, The Secret
Take care and refrain from seeing or hearing bad news. Let's claim that we are okay.
After my dreadful experience, I have pledged to do the following to avoid attracting negativity into my life:
1. I will refrain from watching the news often and browsing or sharing negative posts on social media.
2. I will only share informative or helpful posts about Covid-19 and words to inspire to alleviate one's anxiety.
3. I will practice acts of gratitude daily upon waking up in the morning, before going to bed at night, or anytime during the day when I feel like it.
"Be grateful for every second of every day that you get to spend with the people you love. Life is so very precious." - Lessons Learned in Life Inc. |
