Hortikultura Filipina 2018
February 05, 2018
The Philippine Horticultural Society's Hortikultura Filipina 2018 Plants and Arts Fest showcasing endemic, indigenous, and Philippine Hybrids is ongoing until February 11, 2018 in Quezon Memorial Circle. It aims to promote Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) as the showcase place for gardening and horticultural practices in Metro Manila and the entire country as well.
The event is celebrated annually as the largest, most prestigious, and most updated horticultural event to be held in the country. The organizers and their partners would like to promote the Philippines to be recognized as one of the countries with diverse horticultural centers in Asia and the world.

The entire Quezon Memorial Circle was filled with exhibits.
The Quezon Avenue Promenade showcases the Annual Flowering Plants for Philippine Climate by Allied Botanical Group. The Runnex Elevated Garden features Bonsai Showcase by My Mother's garden (Vincent Ferrer) and Flower Carpet by King Louis Flowers and Plants. The Flower Garden houses Geometry of Flowers by East West Seed Company.

Plant enthusiasts from different walks of life can surely enjoy this event. Aside from exhibits, plant and merchandise bazaars, plant competitions in different categories, and unlimited sightseeing of landscapes, display of flower arrangements, lectures and seminars are in store for everyone and they are free of charge. Also take note that there are exhibits that require entrance fees that won't break the bank.
In line with this, last Saturday, February 3, I was privileged to be part of the walking tour for media, bloggers, teachers, and students led by Mr. Rence Chan, my co-writer in Psst.ph. As a Botany graduate, this activity brought back good memories of my college days. Everything that I saw made me feel the exact feeling that I felt a long time ago when we did our laboratory, field work, practical exams, hands on activities, etc. as we pursue our complicated but interesting course. I also realized that I should refresh my memory regarding plant classification. I forgot so much already since I wasn't able to practice my profession. Rence was so brilliant! He knew every plant plus its scientific name and history! Ang galing! At the back of my head, I asked myself, "What if I was given the chance to work as a Botanist? Ang saya siguro!"
Words can't express how happy I am to visit Hortikultura Filipina 2018 that's why I am showing you some of my Instagram posts instead. Let me lend you what my eyes have seen! God has His way of showing us His love through nature and plants. How wonderful!
