I was raised by a mom who takes dressing up seriously. She would always tell me that dressing for the occasion decently was essential because it was a form of self-respect and respect towards others. He would usually wear simple clothes during meetings or special occasions but his pair of shoes were exceptionally uncommon or unique. His shoes made his total look extraordinary. He would brag that they were Philippine-made, gawang-Marikina.
Growing up in a family who treats choosing the right outfit a serious matter is an advantage. Never in my more than four decades of existence had a bad experience when it comes to choosing the right clothes especially pairs of shoes that would not cause any discomfort or uneasiness when I go out and face the world.
